Back to School Prayer Walk

We had a great time during our back-to-school prayer walk! We were able to maintain our social distance while learning about God and praying for the upcoming school year!

Below you can work through the stations from home, even if the school year has already begun!

Station 1: Safety

Psalm 118:6-7 “The LORD is for me; I will not be afraid. What can a mere mortal do to me? The LORD is my helper.”

Zephaniah 3:17, “The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will be quiet in his love. He will delight in you with singing.”

Safety is the buzz word we hear every time we turn on the TV this year. Will our children be safe in school? Rather than let fear grip your heart, I give you this verse, and this promise, God is in our midst.

Think about that, God is with us. We worry about masks, gloves, and disinfectants. God says that he is a mighty one able to protect and save. Our first prayer this school year should be safety and protection.

Station 2: What’s the point?

Can you write with a pencil that isn’t sharpened, (has no point)? Life with out God would be a lot like this pencil- there would be not point. When we ask Jesus into our hearts, He gives our lives a purpose and a point. Our point is to love God and to love others.

Matthew 22:37-39 “He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Station 3: Unity

“Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.”1 Peter 4:10

What would happen if all the crayons in the box were the same color? It wouldn’t be very fun, would it? We need all of the different colors to create a beautiful picture. In the same way, God created everyone different. Some people are loud and funny, and some are quiet and shy. Some can sing and paint and some are good with numbers and knowledge. All together, we make something beautiful.

Station 4: The most important book

God’s word is the most important book we have. Math and English are important, but they are not eternal.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Station 5: Fruit of the Spirit

The lunch box reminds us of the fruit of the spirit that we should always carry with us.

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.”

Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Station 7: ABC’s

Laying our burdens at the cross. Finding hope & peace through Jesus.

A – Admit that you are a sinner. Repent, turning away from your sin

WE SINNED. We all choose to disobey God. The Bible calls this sin. Sin separates us from God and deserves God’s punishment of death.

Romans 3:23 “ for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

B – Believe that Jesus is God’s Son, and accept God’s gift of forgiveness from sin.

GOD PROVIDED. God sent Jesus, the perfect solution to our sin problem, to rescue us from the punishment we deserve. It’s something we, as sinners, could never earn on our own. Jesus alone saves us.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

John 1:11-13 “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”

C – Confess you faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

JESUS GIVES. Jesus lived a perfect life, dies on the cross for our sins, and rose again. Because Jesus gave up His life for us, we can be welcomed into god’s family for eternity. This is the best gift ever!

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Romans 10:9-10 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Romans 10:13 “ for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'”
