Home – Becoming a Christian

Becoming a Christian

This decision (becoming a Christian) determines the way you live and where you will spend eternity.  God really loves you and wants to have a relationship with you now and always!  Unfortunately, there is a problem…our own heart!

*People are prideful and want to make selfish decisions!  The Bible says, “We all went astray like sheep, we all have turned to our own way…” (Isaiah 53:6).  It also says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  Our own bad life choices separate us from God!!

*But God does not want us separated from Him!  Again, the Word of God says, “God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!” (Romans 5:8).  Because God is holy…perfection is the standard to reach God.  And no one is perfect except God!  That is why Jesus Christ had to come…to be our perfect example and substitute for God’s high standard of perfection!

*So what can a person do?  Repent, give control of your life to God and have your sins completely taken away!  The word repent means to turn around and go a different direction.  It means leading a life that is centered on God and not on yourself.  In the book of Acts in the Bible we read, “Repent, therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).  Your part is to confess your sin, God’s part is to forgive and restore.

*If you are ready, you can say a prayer like this:  “Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and need your forgiveness.  I know You died on the cross for me.  I now turn from my sins and ask You to forgive me.  I invite You into my heart and life.  I trust You as Savior and will follow You as Lord.  Thank You for saving me.  Amen”.

If you would like to speak with someone about your decision to accept Christ, have recently become a Christian, or would like to speak with someone about the opportunity of being baptized, please reach out to our Senior Pastor Josh Guajardo. Josh offers Prayer and Pastoral Care. God bless you.
